Itineraries
Day 1
BRINDISI AND ALBEROBELLO:
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide and visit of Brindisi: the historic centre with the 15th century Aragonese walls, Piazza Duomo with the Portico of the Templars and the archaeological area with the Roman domus of ancient Brindisi. Free lunch, in the afternoon excursion to Alberobello: known as "the city of Trulli": ancient cone-roofed buildings, declared a World Heritage Site, visit of the most characteristic quarters with the Sovereign Trullo and the Trullo Church of St. Anthony of Padua. At the end of the visit, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK OF THE HYPOGEA IN TRINITAPOLI AND CASTEL DEL MONTE
Breakfast at the hotel, guided excursion to the Archaeological Park of the Hypogeum: Comparable to Stonehenge in terms of importance and historical-cultural value, the Archaeological Park of the Hypogeum of Trinitapoli is unique in the world. A grandiose Bronze Age sanctuary site discovered in thirty years of archaeological research. Packed lunch, followed by a guided tour of Castel del Monte: Castel del Monte wurde zwischen 1240 und 1250 im Auftrag des letzten großen Stauferkaisers Friedrich IIerrichtet. Day 3
LECCE:
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a guided tour of Lecce: the charming city is the capital of the Salento peninsula and one of the region's main tourist attractions thanks, among other things, to its Baroque architecture. In the Museo Faggiano Lecce, for example, you can learn about the structural development of a town house or visit the minor Roman amphitheatre, which still serves as a backdrop for cultural events. In addition to buildings such as the Basilica of Santa Croce and the Castle of Charles V, a 16th century castle complex in the heart of the historical centre, there are numerous squares with cafés and bars to linger in.
Excursions in Nature :
Trekking in the Coastal Dunes Park: a walking itinerary to discover the extraordinary diversity of the protected area, including coastal dunes, backdune wetlands, inland fossil dunes dotted with wild orchids, centuries-old olive groves, pastures, karst incisions (lame) on whose rocky walls caves and rock settlements open up, historic masserie (farmhouses), and ancient underground oil mills.
Bicycling on the Via dell' Olio (Oil Road): a bicycle ride in the countryside between Ostuni and Fasano along the route of the ancient Via Traiana - the Roman road that connected Rome to Brindisi - going back in time to prehistoric times, with a visit to the Dolmen di Montalbano, while majestic centuries-old olive trees will guide us to the Masseria Li Santuri. Here we will descend into the limestone underground to visit an ancient underground oil mill, a splendid testimony to a past of work linked to the gold of this land: olive oil.
The Ancient Rite of the Sauce: Experience the knowledge of the organic cherry tomato (flow food presidium), its harvesting directly in the fields, the methods of cooking and processing up to the bottling of the puree according to tradition. (The workshop takes place exclusively during the harvest period from June to August)
